I often point to polls and resources on other websites. However, we have had some fascinating, ‘real-time’ research taking place on our Career Development area.
You may have noticed in the area of the site that there is a poll that asks jobseekers various questions. Recently, we asked:
“What attracts you most to a new role?”
The answers provide a useful glimpse into what motivates candidates to apply to your vacancies.
In order of attractiveness, job seekers are interested in:
- salary 38%
- job specification 35.7%
- location 12.5%
- reputation 5.7%
- facilities on site 3.1%
- conditions e.g. holidays 5.1%
How can you use this information?
If possible, always include the information above in your job adverts. It should be obvious and stand-out from the rest of the text, preferably at or near the top of your advert.
Here’s an idealised example of what I mean:
“Senior marketing director for leading publishing company
Pension, car, share options & relocation package”
Obviously, each advert will need to be written differently. But with something like the above plus enticing advert text, your job adverts will be far more effective.
