We have listened to your feedback and have been hard at work making changes to our Jobs by Email service to offer you a wider range of features to tailor your alerts.
Creating your job alert
To start with, setting up a new email alert is now as simple as performing a search on our website, and selecting ‘Create job alert for this search’, this includes keyword(s) searches.
Location and salary
Your feedback let us know that our locations and regions were too broad, and our salary ranges too narrow. We took this on board and improved them both. With the new system, you can specify areas within a distance from a location or postcode, or select a town, city, country or continent in which you are interested in working, matching the location options available on the website. The salary bands now also mirror the website, so you can include your chosen range for your email alert – no more restrictions to under or over 25k.
Action required – jobseekers with existing accounts will need to make changes
Previous email selections will be replicated and migrated to the new system, however, by default they will be set to ‘all locations’.
If you wish to opt for specific location(s) you will need to log in to your account, delete the alerts you want to change and then create new ones with your preferred options.
If you have email alerts for the job types ‘Clerical, Technical or Craft and Manual’, please note that these are being phased out and over the next couple of months you will need to delete your old alerts and create new ones.
This is a perfect opportunity for you to tailor your email options and ensure we are delivering the job alerts that you want to receive.
You will need to take action to update your email preferences.
- Step 1: Visit jobs.ac.uk, select your search criteria, refine your search as required and select ‘Create job alert for this search’
- Step 2: Add the email address that you would like to use
That’s it, job done.
Multiple Jobs by Email alerts
If you would like to set up more than one job alert, you will be required to set up an account using an email address and password. You can have a maximum of 5 alerts per email address, and can simply delete an old alert and create a replacement that better suits your needs.
If you have an account which is currently ‘suspended until a future date’, please note that this suspension is no longer supported. Your account will be created but the alerts will be switched to ‘off’ until you log in and reactivate them.
Weekly Jobs by Email
Please note that the weekly email alert will be delivered every Tuesday and not Sunday.
No more clutter
You will only receive emails when your selected alert has new jobs, no more clogging your inbox with ‘no results’ emails.
If you create a new alert that doesn’t fit your requirements, simply delete it and create a new one.
