ShanghaiTech University

ShanghaiTech University is a research university jointly established by the Shanghai Municipal Government and the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). Opened in September 2013 it is a young, resource-rich university with a modern residential campus in the heart of Shanghai Pudong’s Zhangjiang Hi-Tech Park.

ShanghaiTech University consists of five schools and three research institutes — the Shanghai Institute for Advanced Immunochemical Studies (SIAIS), the iHuman Institute and the Institute of Mathematical Sciences (IMS). With an academic focus on STEAM research, ShanghaiTech is committed to carrying out China’s national development strategy and nurturing the next generation of innovative scientists, inventors and entrepreneurs.

The university is forming a top-tier faculty of 1,000 professors, including 500 tenured or tenure-track faculty (recruited globally) and 500 distinguished professors-in-residence from CAS or other prestigious universities. The current faculty members include four Nobel laureates, nine National Academy of Sciences members (USA), three Royal Society fellows (UK), thirty-two CAS members, and three Chinese Academy of Engineering members.

ShanghaiTech is actively engaged in the globalization of education. Nanjing University

Situated in the old capital city of Nanjing, Nanjing University (NJU) has a one-hundred-year-long history and enjoys high prestige. At present, NJU has three campuses: Xianlin Campus, Gulou Campus and Pukou Campus. With 28 schools under the university’s direct supervision, the number of students has reached 36,523 in total, including 13,243 undergraduates, 13,406 master students, 6,496 doctoral students, and 3,378 full-time international students. The university boasts a faculty made up of the most accomplished scholars in China, a large number of outstanding disciplines and many important national and provincial research platforms.

NJU’s predecessors were known for their science. The scientific spirit and the tradition of studying nature and pursuing truth have existed throughout NJU’s development and remains the most prominent character of its teaching and education. Generations of NJU faculty and students have worked hard unremittingly for the nation and people, making research achievements renowned in academia at home and abroad.

Over the past decade, NJU has acquired more than 800 national, provincial and ministerial awards for research. In 2006, NJU won the National First Prize, which is the highest award for natural scientific research in China.

Besides basic scientific research, NJU puts considerable focus on applied scientific research and engineering to promote the economic and social development of China. Since 2005, in collaboration with local governments, NJU has set up over 13 institutes to boost the industry academia cooperation and local economy, relating to areas such as new materials, electronic information, bio-pharmaceuticals, environment and resources, and fine chemicals.

Sichuan University

Located in Chengdu, the famous historical and cultural capital city of Sichuan Province, Sichuan University is one of the oldest universities in China and among the most prestigious national key universities in terms of education, research and social impact. It has been selected to participate in the country’s construction plan of "Double First-Class" initiative. The university consists of three campuses: Wangjiang, Huaxi and Jiang’an. The campuses, with their favourable environment and beautiful landscape, make a wonderful place for learning and research.

It has a comprehensive range of disciplines covering 12 categories: humanities, science, engineering, medicine, economy, management, law, history, philosophy, agriculture, education and art. It consists of 34 colleges, including a postgraduate college and an overseas education college. University of Electronic Science and Technology of China

Renowned as China's cradle for the national electronic industry, University of Electronic Science and Technology of China is situated at Chengdu, the city with over a thousand years of cultural history. In 1956, instructed by Premier Zhou Enlai, UESTC was founded from the incorporation of three universities including Jiaotong Universities, Nanjing Institute of Technology and South China Institute of Technology. As one of the seven earliest key universities in national defence, UESTC became one of the nation's key universities in 1960. Then, in 1997 it was included as one of the first universities into "Project 211", a project in China for developing 100 first-class universities and a number of key fields of research for the 21st century. In 2001, UESTC was admitted into the nation's Project 985, receiving special support for developing world-class universities and world-famous research-oriented universities.

Fifty years of effort and cultivation have witnessed the University's progression from sole dependence on electronic information engineering to all-round programmes in electronic disciplines. The University is now a key multidisciplinary university with electronic science and technology at its centre, engineering as its major field with the harmonious integration of science, management and liberal arts. As a result, UESTC is well prepared to come up as a high-level research-oriented university.
