Dear all,
I hope you are well. Today I would share with you a point that is object of my constant reflection.
I have been always intrigued by the multiple ways in which by means of language we can put in place new realities and impact on what already exists. I came to linguistic studies from a background as historian, and I am personally inclined to look at human history like a long sequence of performative linguistic acts. Human beings establish alliances, declare wars and battles, write treatises, get married…by using specific words. The power of words!
Have you had looked at history in this way? And what type of considerations have you drawn? Any comment?
careers when doing history??
