Professor Lei Lian, MD.

Sun Yat-sen University

Professor Lei Lian, MD. is currently a colorectal surgeon and PhD supervisor at the 6th Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University. He trained at the Cleveland Clinic in the USA and returned to China through the Talent Introduction Project.

He’s responsible for the development of disciplines within gastrointestinal specialties, follow-up offices, databases, organizational libraries, and Clinical Research Centre offices. He’s also responsible for the Quality Control Centre of the Department of Health Colorectal Cancer Registration System, in Guangdong Province. His main research direction is in the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease and colorectal tumours. He has been committed to the research of IBD related fields for a long time, and has authored over 70 peer-review articles.

Professor Yulin Chen

ShanghaiTech University

Professor Yulin Chen is the Associate Professor at Department of Physics, Oxford University and Adjunct Professor at ShanghaiTech University. He earned his bachelors degree in physics from University of Science & Technology of China and studied physics in Stanford University from which he obtained his Doctorate Degree in 2008.

He received William E. and Diane M. Spicer Young Investigator Award in 2009 and the outstanding Young Researcher Award in 2012. His major research focuses on the study of topological quantum material and emergent phenomena of advanced material with Angle Resolved Photoemission Spectroscopy (ARPES) and other spectroscopy tools.

Professor Lei Shu

Nanjing Agricultural University

Professor Lei Shu is a distinguished Professor in Nanjing Agricultural University in China, and a “Lincoln Professor” of the University of Lincoln, UK. He is also the director of the NAU-Lincoln Joint Research Center of Intelligent Engineering, and Vice Director of CCF TCAPP China. He has published over 400 papers in conferences, journals, and books in the area of sensor networks.

He has been an Associate Editor for many IEEE publications, including: Transactions on Industrial Informatics, Communications Magazine, Network Magazine, IEEE Systems Journal, IEEE Access, and IEEE/CAA Journal of Automatica Sinica.

He has served as Co-chair for more than 50 international conferences and workshops including: Symposium Co-chair for IWCMC 2012 and ICC 2012, and General Co-chair for Chinacom 2014, Qshine 2015, and Collaboratecom 2017. He’s also been a Steering Committee member and TPC Chair for InisCom 2015, 2016, and 2017, as well as a TPC member for more than 150 conferences, including: ICDCS, DCOSS, MASS, ICC, Globecom, ICCCN, WCNC and ISCC.

Ms. Run Zhu

Zhejiang University

Ms. Run Zhu is the Deputy Chief Officer at the Talents Office of Zhejiang University. She received her Master’s degree in Education from the University of Sydney, and started her career at Zhejiang University in 2010.

Associate Professor Yuanzhe Xuan

BNU-HKBU United International College (UIC)

Dr Yuanzhe Xuan is an Associate Professor and the Programme Director of the Data Science Programme in UIC. Dr Xuan is now teaching courses related to data processing techniques and Big Data technology.

He earned his BSc from Peking University, and his PhD in Electronic and Computer Engineering from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. His research interests include Connected Intelligent Vehicles, the cooperative mapping and planning, object detection and scene understanding, as well as vehicular networks. His other research interest is in Big Data analytics, including the application of machine learning in power analysis, computer vision and online advertising.

Professor Bo Zhu

Shanghai University

Bo Zhu received his Ph.D. from the Tokyo Institute of Technology in 2004. He continued his research as a postdoctoral researcher, and then as a JSPS Postdoctoral Fellow, also at the Tokyo Institute of Technology. He moved to RIKEN in 2008, and received a SPDR Fellowship to start his independent research in 2010.

He became a research scientist in 2013, and then joined Donghua University as a full time professor. In 2017 he moved to Shanghai University and within a year was promoted to Vice Dean of the School of Material Science and Technology.

His research is in functional conducting polymers, electro-responsive polymers, fiber reinforced composites, flexible bioelectronics, and wearable and wireless sensors. He has given more than 20 invited talks in international conferences, co-authored 2 book chapters, peer reviewed more than 80 papers, and his H-index is 30.

Professor Stuart Perrin

Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University

Professor Stuart Perrin was appointed Dean for International Affairs at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University in Suzhou, China, in February 2017, with the responsibility for leading the internationalization agenda at the university, including issues relating to the appointment of international faculty.

In addition, Stuart is part of the management team responsible for leading a project to develop new educational initiatives at the university. Prior to his appointment as Dean for International Affairs, he was Dean for Learning and Teaching for four years, combining the role with that of Director of the Language Centre. In the role of Director of the Language Centre, Stuart was responsible for overseeing English, Chinese and Spanish language modules across all years, and developing writing support initiatives in the university.

Before being appointed to Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, Stuart worked at a number of HEI’s within London, as well as at a number of private educational providers in the UK in the areas of pre-university and foundation programmes, in-sessional English and study skill provision, academic literacies and applied linguistics. Stuart is an active researcher, looking at the relationship between language and identity in EMIs, language policy, English as a Lingua Franca, academic literacies and processes of academic socialization, as well as issues of writing interpreting.

Professor Gordon Redding

Professor Emeritus University of Hong Kong and Fellow of The Head Foundation, Singapore

Gordon Redding is a socio-economist educated at Cambridge in economic geography, and with a PhD at Manchester in organization theory, and an honorary doctorate from the Stockholm School of Economics. He spent a decade as an executive in UK industry and he’s a specialist on China and the regional ethnic Chinese. He also works on the comparison of different systems of capitalism, and on the role of education in societal development.

He has published 15 books and over 100 articles related to these subjects. He holds an emeritus professorship at the University of Hong Kong, where he was based for 24 years and founded and directed the HKU Business School (now the Faculty of Business and Economics). While there he was for 20 years honorary Secretary of The Association of Deans of Southeast Asian Graduate Schools of Management.

He was also a member of the Hong Kong Council for Academic Accreditation. He has directed the Euro-Asia Centre at INSEAD, and has extensive experience in corporate consultancy with multinationals.

Now living in London he has held a Visiting Professorial Fellowship at the Institute of Education, UCL. He is also a Fellow of the HEAD Foundation in Singapore, a think-tank he formerly directed, which is devoted to research on education and its role in societal progress internationally.

He has received the Biennial Award for Scholarship of the International Association of Chinese Management Researchers for his early study The Spirit of Chinese Capitalism. Related publications include co-editing The Oxford Handbook of Asian Business Systems, and (with Michael Witt) The Future of Chinese Capitalism, Oxford University Press. He is also senior editor of The Oxford Handbook of Higher Education Systems and University Management due out in late June 2019. He is currently sufficiently risk-prone to be working on a general theory of societal progress.
